Few narrators would be equally at home in this trilingual setting, but the French actor Dominique Horwitz born in to German Jewish refugees who had fled Nazi Germany for Paris, and later educated in a French-speaking school in Berlin certainly is.

His still-perceptible accent in the English version is no obstacle at all to his engaging recounting of the story. The translations are interesting in their own right; the English version is a collaborative effort from by Michael Flanders yes, that Michael Flanders and the South African playwright Kitty Black.

It captures the deliberate banality of the original rhymes almost too well, at times reminiscent of the whimsical poetry of Dr Seuss — but then the whole point of the piece, both verbally and musically, is the intentional avoidance of profundity. It could almost be Weill — a long-lost precursor to Mahagonny , perhaps.

Abstract To investigate the role of DNA mismatch repair status MMR in survival of endometrioid endometrial cancer in Hong Kong Chinese women and its correlation to clinical prognostic factors, patients with endometrioid endometrial cancer were included.

Tumor MMR status was evaluated by immunohistochemistry. To investigate the role of DNA mismatch repair status MMR in survival of endometrioid endometrial cancer in Hong Kong Chinese women and its correlation to clinical prognostic factors, patients with endometrioid endometrial cancer were included.

Clinical characteristics and survival were determined. Association of MMR with survival and clinicopathological parameters were assessed. In conclusion, dMMR is present in a significant number of endometrioid endometrial cancers patients and is associated with poorer clinicopathological factors and survival parameters in the long run.

Teladorsagia circumcincta is the most important gastrointestinal parasite in the livestock industry in temperate regions around the world, causing great economic losses.

To understand the role of Tci-gal-1 at the host—parasite interface, we used a proteomics pull-down approach to identify Tc-gal-1 interacting proteins from sheep abomasal scrapes and whole tissue.

A total of unique proteins were identified from whole abomasal tissue samples, while 89 proteins were isolated from abomasal scrape samples. Of these proteins, 63 were present in both samples. Many of the host proteins identified, such as trefoil factors and mucin-like proteins, play critical roles in the host response.

The identification of Tci-gal-1 binding partners provides new insights on host—parasite interactions and could lead to the development of new control strategies. Abstract Background and Objectives: Saffron treatment and photobiomodulation PBM are non-invasive therapeutic approaches able to mitigate and stabilize retinal degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration AMD.

Although different, these therapies partially match their modulated pattern of genes. Recent attempts to find an additive [ Background and Objectives: Saffron treatment and photobiomodulation PBM are non-invasive therapeutic approaches able to mitigate and stabilize retinal degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration AMD.

Recent attempts to find an additive effect by coadministration of saffron and PBM have failed. Instead, in this study, a different protocol to increase neuroprotection by providing consecutive saffron and PBM treatment administration is suggested. Materials and Methods: Albino rats, whose retinal damage was caused by light exposure LD, light damage , were subjected to differential treatment protocols before and after LD: 1 PBM followed by saffron; and 2 single treatments of PBM.

Thinning of the photoreceptor layer and neuro-inflammatory markers for gliosis and microglia were assessed via immune-histochemical techniques. Results: Results confirm that PBM and saffron alone cope with retinal neurodegenerative processes, preserving retinal thickness and gliosis and microglia invasion in a differential way.

However, the synergistic effect of the combined treatment was restricted to the early neuroinflammation, even when provided sequentially. Conclusion: The broad spectra of action of both neuroprotectants require further investigation to identify other key pathways helpful in enhancing the effects of these two approaches in combination. Open Access Review. Abstract Recruitment of mural cells to the vascular wall is essential for forming the vasculature as well as maintaining proper vascular functions.

In recent years, zebrafish genetic tools for mural cell biology have improved substantially. Fluorescently labeled zebrafish mural cell reporter lines enable us [ Recruitment of mural cells to the vascular wall is essential for forming the vasculature as well as maintaining proper vascular functions. Fluorescently labeled zebrafish mural cell reporter lines enable us to study, with higher spatiotemporal resolution than ever, the processes of mural cell development from their progenitors.

Furthermore, recent phenotypic analysis of platelet-derived growth factor beta mutant zebrafish revealed well-conserved organotypic mural cell development and functions in vertebrates with the unique features of zebrafish. However, comprehensive reviews of zebrafish mural cells are lacking. Therefore, herein, we highlight recent advances in zebrafish mural cell tools.

We also summarize the fundamental features of zebrafish mural cell development, especially at early stages, and functions. The results show a remarkable relationship, which includes the contamination of EWF by GHG emissions, that mostly exhibits unsatisfactory decoupling state to satisfactory decoupling over a period of several years.

The decoupling of water and energy resources from GHG emissions in most countries of Africa has not been able to reach an excellent decoupling state or a strong positive decoupling state. This requires countries in Africa to support environmentally friendly water and energy infrastructures and to promote an integrated, mutually managed, whole resource interaction system. The study also highlights the importance of tracking sources of GHG emissions, whether within individual resource sector activities or across resources to each other.

XRD of the as-prepared adsorbent exhibited a partially crystalline structure with a specific surface area of The biosorption potential of novel biosorbent Phragmites australis reed was investigated with a batch scale and continuous flow study. The study was conducted at different constraints to obtain optimum pH conditions, adsorbent dose, contact time, agitation speed, and initial TDS concentration.

In order to analyze the properties of the procedure and determine the amount of sodium removal, Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin—Radushkevich isotherms were tested. For industrial application, the adsorbent was tested using the adsorbent column technique. Pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and diffusion models were connected, and it was discovered that the information fit best to the pseudo-second-arrange active model. According to the intraparticle diffusion model, the mechanism goes through four stages before reaching equilibrium.

The periodicity test shows that the adsorption ability of Phragmites australis can be recovered by washing with 0. Open Access Case Report.
